Book Launch: The Sligo Field Club Vol 8
Join us at 5pm on Thursday 27th of April for the launch of Sligo Field Club, Vol 8.
From the Field Club:
“The volume, the largest of our first eight volumes so far, contains a broad range of illustrated articles on the geology, archaeology, local history, family history and personal memories of County Sligo, past and present.
In particular, this volume features an article by the late Dr. Don Cotton on the vascular plants of Co. Leitrim. A former academic staff member at the Institute of Technology Sligo (now part of
Atlantic Technological University) and a well-known ecologist of International standing with an encyclopedic knowledge of Irish flora and fauna among many other interests, Don died in 2022 and is sadly missed by friends, colleagues and all who knew him. The volume also includes a tribute article to Don and a gallery of photos of Don in his world.
The launch will be performed in Liber Bookshop by Mr. Eamon Gaughan, retired teacher of chemistry and science, who worked with Don as a Voluntary County Recorder for Leitrim for the
British and Irish Botanical Society and who is currently VCR for County Sligo.
It is expected that many of the authors will be present. Liber holds stocks of previous volumes.”
